It’s no secret that the Georgetown Beard Club supports many worthy charities. One of our favorites is Veteran Outdoors. What began as one hunt for a group of veterans became a life mission for Cody Hirt. In 2008, Cody, along with his brother-in-law, Wes Higgins, founded Veteran Outdoors, a nonprofit organization staffed entirely by volunteers, that surprises wounded veterans with their dream hunting or fishing trips. In their own words, Veteran Outdoors is 501c(3) non-profit organization based out of Georgetown, Texas. Their mission is to honor our country’s wounded veteran’s patriotism and sacrifice by providing quality outdoor-related activities. VO’s goal is to raise public awareness about the therapeutic effects that being in the outdoors actually has on the mental and physical health of our country’s wounded men and women. In addition to providing these activities, they also provide a platform for veterans to tell their own stories in their own words.
We can’t help but want to be a part of what the team at Veteran Outdoors is doing for our military men and women. In that spirit, in addition to the 3rd Annual Georgetown Chupacabra Cookoff and the 2nd annual Veteran Outdoors VOvember Beard Brawl we have planned, we also have an ongoing campaign to raise money for this commendable charity. We hope you will help us support them by clicking the “Donate” button above.
