Because of the success of the WilCo Strong campaign, the Georgetown Beard Club fortunate enough to be able to make an impactful donation to HELP Crisis Assistance. The inimitable Mr. Rogers once said:
When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping."
̶ Fred Rogers
That quote succinctly describes the wonderful people behind HELP Crisis Assistance. We at the Georgetown Beard Club are happy to be at least a small part of the help behind the helpers. But we are only able to do this because of the generosity of the people of Georgetown and Williamson County. In their own words, here is how HELP Crisis plans to make a difference.
“Help Crisis Assistance recently received a generous donation from the Georgetown Beard Club's WilCo Strong campaign.
I wanted to take a moment to share with you how important this donation is. In the past few months, HELP has spent a great deal of money keeping our first responders, essential personnel, and those with compromised immune systems protected with personal protective equipment needed to keep them safe.
We have also provided safe emergency shelter for women and children fleeing family violence. Recently, we were able to facilitate a complete “fresh start” for a mom and her teenage daughter who were able to leave an abusive situation and start a new healthy life.
We have been able to make significant financial contributions to families who have had to bury a loved one due to tragedy. We have been able to help these bereaved families further by assisting with their financial obligations so they could take time off to make arrangements and grieve.
We have provided financial relief to a local police officer who was significantly injured in a car accident and was forced to take time off of work. This was all made possible because of the support of our community.
Because of the community support, we have been able to accomplish a great deal in our ten months of service. But knowing the generous spirit of our community, our goals going forward are big!
We have big ideas for upcoming advocacy projects. We have goals of having our own “Respite” location. We want an office with storage space. We will continue growing and serving Williamson County and we need the support of our community in order to achieve these goals. At present, we are 100% funded by private donors. We are excited about the success we have had so far, but there is still much work to be done in our growing community! We need YOU; the Helpers!”
